About Us
The Society of York Region Artists (SOYRA) was founded in September 1987 to provide a forum for artists of all levels to exchange ideas, opinions and assist each other in the advancement of their artistic goals.  This is achieved through art shows, field trips, study groups and instruction by recognized professional artists.

SOYRA operates from September to June, with a July/ August break. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at 56 Victoria Street, the former Aurora Library Building.

Tuesday

1st Executive Meeting 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM
2nd Members Meeting* 7:30 PM to 10:00 PM
3rd Workshop 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM
4th Workshop 7:00 PM to 10:00 PM

*Announcements will be made prior to the demonstration (Everyone is encouraged to come early)

We have a great lineup of artists who demonstrate at the "Members Meeting" on the second Tuesday of every month. Qualified instructors are on hand at both demos and workshops to teach techniques in a variety of styles and medium. Demonstrations and Paint-ins are free to members

SOYRA activities include annual Art shows, painting rotations in Aurora Town Hall, East Gwillimbury Town Hall and other locations. We also participate as voluntary helpers at the Annual Aurora Art Show. We have been proud to support our community by donating funds to the Southlake Regional Health Centre and Aurora Library.
